File data type = 32 bit IEEE and netCDF (in progress)
Time = individual time period (i.e., monthly ) for IEEE; All months for 1980->97 for netCDF
Vertical levels: 17 Plevs(hPa) = 10,20,30,50,70,100,150,200,250,300,400,500,600,700,850,925,1000; L18 = lowest full sigma level; 10m = 10 meters; 2m = 2 meters
All records consist of ix*iy real words, where ix, iy are the number of longitudes and latitudes respectively, in this case ix,iy = 128,64 for t42.
First longitude starts at the Greenwich meridian and the logitudes are evenly spaced going west to east. Latitudes are Gaussian, going north to south.
