Rock my World Resource Page

The Rock My World focuses on using proxies of ocean climate to look at the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM). This event is of interest to modern climatologists because it may be an analogue for the climate we might expect from human-induced global warming.

You should take a look at some sites that discuss geologic time scales. Here is one USGS site with a nice table.
Geologic Time from the USGS has a more complete discussion of how we know about geologic time.
Primary source material on PETM
Zachos et al. (1992) documents the changes in isotopic carbon composition at the PETM.
Cirbus Sloan et al. (1992) suggests that they might be due to changes in methane.
Zachos et al. (1993) is an early review paper on this subject.
