Abstract: Using the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL)
line-by-line plus doubling-adding (LBL + DA) algorithm, we investigate
the absorption of solar radiation in the near-infrared spectrum in overcast
atmospheres containing water vapor and water drops. We compare the results
with that for water vapor absorption only, and examine the quantitative
dependence of the absorption on the drop optical depth and vertical location
of the cloud.
