Annual North Atlantic tropical storm counts based on HURDAT(2009) as used and derived in Landsea, Vecchi, Bengtsson and Knutson (2009, J. Clim.) "Impact of Duration Thresholds on Atlantic Tropical Cyclone Counts". -First column lists the tropical storm season year. -Second column lists the number of moderate to long lived tropical storms. That is, number of tropical storms in HURDAT (Jarvinen et al 1984), including revisions to dataset up through Landsea et al (2008), of duration (number of days, based on 6-hour periods, in which storm maximum wind exceeds 17m/s) larger than two days -Third column lists the number of moderate to long lived tropical storms adjusted for likely missed storms. That is, moderate duration storms with the methodology of Vecchi and Knutson (2008) applied using only storms with duration greater than 2 days. -Fourth column lists the number of short duration storms. That is, storms with duration two days or less from HURDAT. REFERENCES: Jarvinen, B. R., C. J. Neumann, and M. A. S.
