• geostrophic turbulence, mesoscale eddy structure & evolution, sea level change (spatio-temporal patterns of variability and links to coastal sea level rise)
• ocean heat uptake and transport
• observational physical oceanography (remote sensing, autonomous underwater vehicles, moorings, profiling floats)
