Weather and Lab Notices thunderstorm

Please check the National Weather Service forecast for Princeton, New Jersey before your visit. If there is a chance that severe weather may close the lab, check the Notices page or call (609) 452-6500.

From the north (e.g. Newark Liberty International Airport):

  • Take the New Jersey Turnpike south
  • Take exit 9 (RT-18 toward US-1/New Brunswick/E Brunswick)
  • Keep right at the fork, follow signs for RT-18 N/US-1/New
    Brunswick/Princeton/Trenton/Tower Center Blvd and merge
    onto RT-18 N
  • Take the US-1 South ramp to Trenton
  • Follow Route 1 South for approximately 14 miles
  • Exit at Sayre Dr/Forrestal Campus and make the first left which will take you
    under Route 1.
  • Continue on Forrestal Road for approximately 1000ft and make a right.
  • Follow the road until you can make the second right into the GFDL parking lot.

From the south (e.g. Philadelphia International Airport):

  • Take I-95 or I-295 north
  • Take exit 67 (US-1 toward New Brunswick/Trenton)
  • Follow Route 1 North for approximately six miles
  • Exit at Sayre Dr/Forrestal Campus and follow Forrestal Road to the right.
  • Continue on Forrestal Road for approximately 1000ft and make a right.
  • Follow the road until you can make the second right into the GFDL parking lot.

TigerTransit Shuttle Service

Princeton University’s TigerTransit transportation system operates on a fixed route schedule during the academic year, providing safe, convenient and reliable transportation throughout the Princeton campus and surrounding community.

The TigerTransit transportation system offers stops at academic and administrative buildings; faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate student housing; Nassau Street; and the Forrestal Campus and Princeton Plasma Physics Lab (click here for map).

You can track the shuttle as it makes its way between and around the campuses via princeton.tripshot.com. On the left hand side of the screen, select Route 3: Merwick to Forrestal/PPPL.

New Jersey Transit Bus Service

The New Jersey Transit (NJT) 600 bus provides service between Princeton Forrestal Center and the Princeton Junction Train Station. NJT allows train riders with a rail pass to ride the NJT 600 bus for no additional charge.
