Kirsten’s land-atmosphere interactions research

Research with data from the North American Regional Reanalysis has shown that fluxes from the land surface play an important role in triggering afternoon convection, but not in determining the depth of rainfall events. Click here for more information.

Before coming to GFDL, I worked on a framework for understanding how early-morning atmospheric conditions can influence the ability of the land surface to influence convective rainfall. Click here for a summary of this work.
